IHG Launching Voco In Southeast Asia

There’s a new upscale family hotel in Bangkok coming soon, as Inter Continental Hotels Group has recently announced the debut of their new voco brand in Southeast Asia.

The brand launched in June 2018, before opening its first hotel in Australia, the voco Gold Coast, in November 2018. Now, less than a year following its launch, the brand will be debuting in Southeast Asia with the first property to open in Bangkok. IHG has signed a management deal with B&G Park Company Limited for their new-build voco brand hotel, the voco Bangkok Sukhumvit 11.

Scheduled to open sometime in 2021, the property will have 300 rooms, and a wide variety of food and entertainment options, all while providing easy access to the nearby Nana BTS station.

Less than a year old, the brand, voco, got its name from the Latin word voco, which means “to call”. The brand is a global brand with boutique hotel aesthetics and design. IHG issued a statement on the matter, saying that the brand will introduce its upscale offerings to more travelers in Bangkok, particularly those who are looking for a family hotel in Bangkok with a bold, distinctive identity and a more informal style of service.

The hotel also offers all-day dining for its guests, and, at the rooftop, sits a restaurant and bar with a view of the city. Other facilities include a swimming pool with a complimentary bar, as well as a fitness centre. The hotel also has MICE facilities that can hold up to 400 guests, with the voco Bangkok’s largest meeting room to have a capacity of 200 guests.

IHG Southeast Asia & Korea Managing Director Clarence Tan stated that Bangkok, as the world’s most visited destination, is an excellent starting market for one of their newest brands. This signing, he says, continues the accelerated growth of the voco brand since its June launching.

Currently, IHG has 24 hotels in Thailand, spread across 5 different brands. These include Inter Continental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, as well as Hotel Indigo, with an additional 27 hotels in the development pipeline for the next 3 to 5 years.
